JANE LEIKO YOKOI
Jane Leiko Yokoi, a beacon of light and love, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in her
birthplace of Honolulu, Hawaii. Jane's life was a testament to her thoughtful, spirited and
selfless nature. She was 76 years old.
Jane's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Honolulu, where she
attended Roosevelt High School. She continued her education journey on to the University
of Hawaii at Manoa, where she earned her bachelor's degree. Her passion for learning
continued at the University of Colorado at Greeley where she achieved her master's degree
in education.
Professionally, Jane dedicated her life to the noble calling of teaching. She became a
beloved special education teacher, touching the lives of countless 5th graders at Welton
Elementary and then at Grand Mound Elementary in Iowa. Her commitment to her
students was unwavering and her impact on their lives was profound. Her dedication
extended beyond the classroom as she was active in her Iowa community, always ready to
lend a helping hand and o5er support.
Jane's zest for life was evident in her many interests and hobbies. She was an avid
participant in hiking and walking groups finding pleasure of being outdoors. Her
adventurous early years in Iowa found her taking part in several Ragbrai bike rides across
the state of Iowa, challenging herself and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow cyclists. She
found much solace in gardening and cultivating her flowers and fruit trees in her yard.
In the kitchen, Jane was a true homemaker. She loved to cook and tried different dishes
and new recipes. Her culinary enthusiasm was shared with friends and family who enjoyed
anything she cooked or baked. It definitely brought everyone together. Her creativity was
not limited to the culinary arts; she also enjoyed crafting unique cards. Each card was a
work of art, imbued with her thoughtfulness for the receiver, sharing the warm spirit of
"ALOHA" she carried with her always.
Jane's family was the cornerstone of her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank
and Ellen Yokoi, her fiance' William Jones and her brother Richard Yokoi. Her legacy
continues through her sister Leatrice Yokoi-Moon and brother-in-law Allan Moon, her
sister-in-law Clarenli Yokoi, and her cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews and
grandnieces who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
