Jane Salzman Zemba, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, mentor, and friend, died suddenly and unexpectedly on May 15, 2025, at the age of 63. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved her and in the many communities she touched with her wisdom, strength, and grace.
Born on November 29, 1961, Jane was the daughter of Ruby and Norman Salzman, and will be buried beside them in
Paramus, New Jersey. She grew up in River Edge, graduated from River Dell High School, and went on to earn her degree from the University of Hartford-launching a lifelong journey of personal and professional excellence.
Jane was the adored wife of John Zemba and the fiercely loving mother of Jillian and Jacqueline Zemba, whose lives she shaped with passion, humor, and unwavering devotion. She was a devoted sister to Marian Salzman (Jim Diamond) and Beverly Salzman, a cherished sister-in-law to Diane and Lorraine, and a beloved aunt to a wide circle of nieces and nephews. Her friendships-many stretching back decades-were anchored in loyalty, laughter, and love.
Professionally, Jane was a powerhouse. She built a remarkable career in retail and business leadership, holding key roles at Linens & Things and Macy's before finding her professional home at Mach9, where she served as both a dynamic executive and a nurturing "den mother" to her team. She also gave back as an adjunct instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she mentored young talent with the same care and integrity that defined her life.
The family is deeply grateful to the River Edge Ambulance Corps for their swift and compassionate care, and to the community for the outpouring of support during this time of sudden loss.
A funeral service will be held this Sunday, May 18 at 11:00 am at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel (W-150 Route 4
Paramus, NJ) with interment to follow at the Cedar Park Cemetery (735 Forest Ave.
Paramus, NJ).
A celebration of Jane's life will take place on June 14, 2025, where her family, friends, and colleagues will gather to remember a woman who gave so much and asked for so little.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a
charity of your choice or to the River Edge Volunteer Ambulance Corps in Jane's memory. Let us honor her by living with the same fierce love, sharp wit, and generous spirit that she shared every day of her remarkable life.
