John Reagan Obituary

John "Jack" Francis Reagan, 96, of Bloomfield, passed away on August 27, 2025, after living a full and beautiful life. Jack was born in Hartford on November 19, 1928 to the late John Reagan and Gertrude (Blake) Reagan.

Jack became a police officer for the Town of West Hartford, and after graduating from the University of Hartford in the early 1970's, went on to work for the Aetna for over 35 years. He always found time for golfing, boating, and a Nordstrom sale. He was an involved communicant of St. Peter Claver and St. Mark the Evangelist parishes, where he served as a board member, eucharistic minister and CCD teacher for many years.

Jack was a devout Catholic and believed in a solid foundation of family, education, and hard work. He had a firm belief that family came first. His greatest legacy may be the passing on of these values to his children, who in turn raised their children to be strong in their convictions, strong in their work ethic, and strong in their love for their family.

Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Rita (Vaillancourt) Reagan; his son, John Blake Reagan; and his siblings, Elizabeth Waters, Eileen Swan, Richard Reagan and Thomas Reagan of West Hartford. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Reagan Vibberts of West Hartford, CT and her children Kristen Klopp and Michelle Nelson; his daughter-in-law, Susan Gumbrecht Reagan of Guilford, CT and her children Melanie Paige and Casey Reagan; his son, James P. Reagan of West Hartford, CT; his daughter, Kathleen Reagan-Papstein, her husband Steven Papstein of York, ME and their children Kelsey Alley and Madalyn Papstein. Jack was extraordinarily proud of his six granddaughters and his four great-grandchildren Jackson, Ryan, John and Molly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, (September 2), at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
