Janet L. Barnes, 77, of New Castle, passed away on March 25, 2025 at home with her family. She was born January 13, 1948, in Clinton County Kentucky, the daughter of the late Luther and Dora (Pennycuff) Agee.
Born with the heart of a survivor, Janet faced life's challenges with a tenacity that inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Janet's kind and loving spirit shone through in her infectious smile, which had a remarkable ability to illuminate even the darkest rooms. Those who knew her will remember not just her warm presence, but also the wisdom she shared so generously. She possessed a keen intelligence, always offering good advice to those seeking guidance. Her sense of humor was equally charming, with a quick wit that brought laughter to all corners of her life.
At the heart of Janet's existence was her family, which was most important to her, especially her two beloved daughters. She loved them fiercely, pouring her heart into their lives and nurturing them with unwavering support. Janet found joy in traveling and vacationing, seeking out new experiences and soaking up the beauty of the world around her. She had a particular affection for snow and the Christmas season. Her love for shopping was matched only by her love for giving; she found happiness in making others smile, often choosing to give more than she received.
Janet is survived by her two daughters, Leslie (Larry) Mitchell of New Castle, and Dustie (fiancé David Davis) Daffron of New Castle; grandchildren, Clinton (Kaleigh) Brown, Jacob Brown, Amyah (Cole) Wesley, Layla (companion Trevor Billings) Crabtree, Cienna (companion Tegan Cable) Crabtree all of New Castle; great grandchildren, Grant, Gavin, Evelyn, Koda, Garrett, Hudson, Dexter, Leon, and Dovelyn; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her former husband Roger H. Daffron; and she is the last surviving of the 8 Agee children.
