Mae Dean Cummings, 90, of New Castle, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 10, 2026. She was born in Clinton County, KY, on March 21, 1935, to the late Joe and Margie (Davis) Cummings.
Mae attended Wells Bottom School in Clinton County, Kentucky, and later married the love of her life, Ottie Cummings, in 1951. The couple moved to Indiana in 1952, where they established a warm and loving home filled with laughter and togetherness.
Mae’s devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She took immense joy in cooking, skillfully creating meals that brought her family together for large gatherings. These moments, filled with warmth and love, became cherished memories for everyone who sat around her table.
Active in her faith, Mae attended the North 14th Street Church of God, where her love for community and connection shone brightly.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Joan (Ronnie) Cargile and Jeff (Gail) Cummings; grandchildren, Scott (Dalice) Cargile, January (Joe) New, Cindi (Bryan) Rottinghaus, and Jason (Casey) Ellis; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Ottie Cummings; siblings, Carmen Cummings and Lawrence Williams; and her stepmother, Lou Ann Thomas Williams.
Services will be at 1:00pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Pastor Rick Evans officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North 14th Street Church of God.
