Janet Katie Cowley Bauer age 80 passed away Tuesday February 13, 2024 in Ogden, Utah. She was born November 22, 1943 in Murray, Utah to Melvin Ivin and Dorothy Stowe Green Cowley.
She graduated from BYU in 1966 and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing.
She married Robert Halpin in 1965. They later divorced. She married David E. Bauer in 1985. He passed away in 2019
Janet has lived in Sandy, Utah, Worchester, Massachusetts, and Layton, Utah.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a Visiting Teacher, Visiting Teacher Supervisor, and Ward Young Women’s Softball Coach.
Janet loved flower arranging and decorating her beautiful Christmas trees. She was a huge Star Wars fan, enjoyed fitness, especially step-aerobics.
She is survived by her brother, Richard L. Cowley, sons: Robert Todd, Jeffrey Scott, Shane Jason and daughter Amie.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Ivin Cowley, Dorothy Stowe Green, brothers; Jon Wayne Cowley, Melvin Eugene Cowley, Thomas W. Cowley, sister Joan Beckstrand, and husband David Eliot Bauer.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels for their efforts, excellent care, and compassion. Janet enjoyed their visits and friendship. Also, a special thank you to Debbie And Brett Garner and all her wonderful friends from the ward. We will never forget how much help you’ve given not to just Janet but our whole family.
A graveside service will be held Saturday February 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah prior to the graveside.
