Janet Louise Bierce

Janet Louise Pikovsky Daum Bierce, born on January 21, 1943 in Johnstown, PA, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was 81 years old.
Janet dedicated many years of her life working as a secretary for Hudson River Psychiatric Center. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading and drawing, finding solace and joy in these pursuits. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Martin Pikovsky and Helen Martha Suehy Pikovsky; her husbands, Joseph Daum and Frederick Bierce; her siblings, Dorothy Tomechak, Eleanor Karabach, Lillian Kralik, Frances Pikovsky, and Norbert Pikovsky; and her infant grandchild, Joey B. Daum.
Janet is survived by her loving daughter, Sheila Carollo (James) of Moyock, NC; her two sons, Kenneth Daum (Tracey) of Ahoskie, NC and Joel Daum (Mary Francis) of Carrollton, GA; a stepson, Scott Bierce; her five cherished grandchildren, Amy Schoonover (Brandon), Lindsay Daum, Kailyn Daum Palomares (Chris), Michael Daum (Lena), and Andrew Daum; and her two great-grandchildren, Henry and Evelyn Schoonover.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Janet's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 154 Maple Road, Maple, NC 27956 with Father Alex Gonzalez officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Twiford Memorial Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Moyock Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 154 Maple Road, Maple, NC 27956 or to the Moyock Public Library, 126 Campus Drive, Moyock, NC 27958.
Janet will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering faith.
