Mrs. Janet Ruth Bowyer, 77, of Newnan, formerly of Norcross, GA, passed away the 8th day of July, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born January 7, 1947, in Springfield IL to the late James Anthony and Doris Edna Bucari.
Jan grew up in Springfield, Il, graduating in 1965 from Lanphier High School and from Southern Illinois University in 1969. She married the love of her life, Tim Bowyer in 1968 and spent most of her time raising her two girls, giving to others, sharing her love of the Lord and organizing events for the community. A fifth generation Presbyterian, she served Newnan Presbyterian Church as a Deacon, a member of the Presbyterian Women, church historian along with anything else asked of her. While living in Newnan she was active in the The Newnan Cultural Arts Commission, Newnan-Coweta Historical Society, The Coweta County Master Gardeners in addition to many of her other donations of time and energy throughout our community.
Mrs. Bowyer's funeral will be held, Saturday, July 13, 2024, beginning at 10 AM with Reverend David Jones officiating at the Newnan Presbyterian Church, 33 Greenville Street. Her interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, in Newnan. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at McKoon Funeral Home.
Family requests memorial contributions to the Coweta Samaritan's Clinic (www.csccares.org) or The Coweta County Master Gardeners (ugaextension.org/coweta) in her name. Condolences can be expressed online at www.mckoon.com
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Tim Bowyer of Newnan; daughters, Ashley (Matt) Vasconcelles of Newnan, and Linley Bowyer of Aurora, IL; grandsons, Ethan Vasconcelles and Charles Vasconcelles of Newnan; brother, John (Sharen) Bucari of Springfield, IL; sister Julie Dirksen of Springfield, IL; nieces, Molly Dirksen of Chicago IL and Betsy (Tom) Londrigan of Springfield, IL; nephews, Jacob Bowyer of Wake Forest, NC and John Daniel Bowyer of Nashville, TN; along with many great nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
