Janet Brooks, 91, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born on February 12, 1934, in Hardinsburg, Kentucky, to the late Robert Johnson and Anna Laura Guthrie.
Janet later moved to Louisville, where she built a full and joyful life rooted in faith, family, and service. Janet dedicated many years of service before retiring from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Her career in public service reflected a steadfast commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities through her work.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Janet served as a lay leader and trustee at Talbert Chapel United Methodist Church and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. Her involvement in church life was not only a source of personal fulfillment but also a reflection of her enduring spiritual strength and dedication to serving others.
In addition to her professional accomplishments and spiritual leadership, Janet found joy in the simple pleasures of life-gardening with care and creativity, preparing meals that brought loved ones together around the table, decorating her home with thoughtful touches that reflected warmth and personality, sewing, and cherishing time spent with family.
She had a warm spirit and a creative touch-enjoying music, shopping, and creating beauty wherever she went. Her caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her two sisters, Evelyn Guthrie and Kate Roberts, and five brothers, Ray Johnson, Tom Dean, June Johnson, John R. Johnson, and Wooder Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Brenda Brooks Springer; two grandchildren, André Springer and JaNeé Springer; and two great-grandchildren, Baylee Spears and Caroline Springer. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Ora King, Shirley Wales, and Charlotte Luney, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Janet will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and the beauty she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23

I had the pleasure of helping to care for Janet at Signature South for 3 years - her sense of humor and kind spirit were always so uplifting. I remember how much she would make me laugh every shift, sometimes when she wasn´t even trying. I remember her singing the gospel and how committed to her faith she was. I will cherish the memories I have with her. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
