Drew Justin Brooks, 55 of Atlanta, Michigan, took his final trip around the sun on October 21, 2025. He was born in Alpena, Michigan on April 13, 1970 to the late Terry and Carol (Hermanson) Brooks. He has resided in Atlanta since 1996 and bought his home in 1999. He was referred to as the “king of one-liners” because he loved to laugh and joke around with others. He enjoyed both fishing and hunting, but most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. He is and will be deeply missed.
Drew is remembered by his loving partner, Tonika Swagart; sister, Rene (Jim) Oberholtzer; stepsons, Tyler (Marissa Rosebush) Vertz, Thaddeus Swagart; step-granddaughter, Piper Vertz; nieces, Jessica Brock, Nicole (Nicholas) Rossell; great-nephews, Milo and Wilder; great-niece, Amelia; and stepfather, Scott Carey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry Brooks and Carol Carey; brothers, Rockford Brooks and Travis Perry Brooks.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service held in celebration of his life at Green Funeral Home, Atlanta on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at noon with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow services at Briley Township Cemetery, Atlanta.
