Bennie L. Bolser died on the early morning of September 4, 2025 at the age of 96. He was born on August 25, 1929 to Benjamin W. and Saloma B. (Cissna) Bolser at Women’s Hospital in Flint, Michigan. He married Patricia J. Todd on August 28, 1948 at the Todd home in Flint and together they celebrated 74 years of marriage before Patricia’s passing in 2023. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1948 and began working in the printing business as a print operator. In 1968, he moved the family to Atlanta to work at the Tribune. He and Pat purchased the Montmorency County Abstract Office in 1972 and conducted the business until 1994 when they retired to enjoy the wonderful world of Northern Michigan. Ben was a 32nd degree Mason and past master of Atlanta Lodge No. 516 Free and Accepted Masons, and past president of Northern Michigan Shriners Hospital Club. He was also a member and past trustee, deacon and moderator of the Atlanta Congregational United Church of Christ, past patron and life member of Atlanta Chapter No. 487 Order of the Eastern Star and past grand representative of Idaho in Michigan. He was also a charter member of Thunder Bay Eagles No. 4077 in Atlanta. Ben had served as Briley Township trustee for several years and as the Atlanta Airport manager.
Ben was most happy when flying his Cessnas and hunting both big and small game throughout the states, as well as fishing in the many lakes of Michigan and Ontario. He loved playing golf with Patricia and Garland was their home course. He also thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Talleywacker Invitational Golf Tournament. He is and will be deeply missed.
Ben is remembered by his sons, Benjamin (Patricia) Bolser, Dell (Marcia) Bolser; grandchildren, Rocky Kimball and his friend, Kaylie; Todd (Jessica) Bolser, Kaycee (Nathan) Winkelman and their children. Ben adored his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Saloma Bolser; wife, Patricia; adopted brother, Edwin Carpenter; and stepfather, Charles Carpenter.
Funeral services for Ben will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the Atlanta Congregational United Church of Christ, Pastor James Barr officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, Atlanta and again on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service with a luncheon following.
