Janet Gail Carter, age 83, formerly of Oak Grove Dr., passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 2, 1940 in Buncombe County to the late James Donald and Lillian Stroupe Carter. Janet was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. She was always active in anything going on at the church including a member of the choir, June Medelin Sunday School Class, and the ladies circle. She was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers as a Department Manager.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Carter Allran; and niece, Beverly Flynn Walls.
Survivors include her nephews and nieces, Chesley and Crystal Walls, Katie Walls, Brent Walls, Lane Walker, and Bryan Flynn; along with her special church family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 2:00 to 2:30 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, at 3:00 PM at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Zack Christy officiating.
