James H. Delaney & Son Funeral HomeJanet Merry (Quinney) Clifton, age 83, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at her home in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire on July 30, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Henry James and Joanne (Seferlis) Quinney and sister of late brother, Robert Quinney and surviving wife Donna Quinney. Beloved mother of Cheryl Clifton and her husband Thomas Tracey of North Easton, the late Cassandra Jones and her surviving husband Craig Jones of Darien, Connecticut, and Scott Clifton of North Easton. Loving Nana of Taylor Tracey, Ryan Jones, Alex Jones, Dylan Jones, and Grace Jones. Also survived by her friend and former spouse David Clifton of Easton, her best friend Jude Learner, her beloved cat Pippin, as well as many extended relatives and friends.
Janet was an attentive and loving mother to her three children. She made sure they knew how much she loved them and was proud of them. She was supportive and encouraging of their interests as well and was incredibly involved with daughters Cheryl and Cassie's cheerleading activities. Janet was an athlete herself, enjoying time to herself to play volleyball and softball when she could. As her children grew older, Janet returned to the workforce. She was a salesperson for Motherhood Maternity at the Walpole Mall, worked alongside her mother and friends at Hot Shoe in Sharon, and was a cosmetics clerk at Jordan Marsh. In her later years, she also had a consignment booth at Bam Smash in Attleboro, which she loved to decorate with her best friend Jude.
Janet was a woman of strong convictions, who showed immense strength and loved her family and friends with all her heart. She was a devoted friend and mother, who loved without condition. A woman of immaculate taste, she was an impeccable dresser and as such often turned heads on the dance floor. She loved to dance, whether out or at home, always moving to the music. Janet loved to spend time with her family, looking forward to the holidays and any excuse to gather together. An excellent cook, her family relished her spanakopita and Greek lamb. She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren in Connecticut, spending a week at a time catching up with them. Many wonderful visits were made to her daughter Cheryl's house in Bourne, relaxing in the sun on Mashnee Island Beach together. Her day was not complete until she had her daily phone call with her son Scott, sharing whatever exciting adventure she had been on. And she went on many adventures, especially with Jude, visiting their favorite stores, thrift shopping, and enjoying a Town Spa pizza together.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Janet's Life Celebration on Saturday, December 20th, 2025, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
