Janet Fern Mitton Clinkscales, 79, died of natural causes in her hometown of Pocatello, Idaho, on November 29, 2025.
Janet was born on August 10, 1946, to Monte and Faye Mitton. She is the fourth of four children. Janet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a deep love and devotion for her Savior.
Janet graduated from Pocatello High School. She was courted and married her high school sweetheart, Steve, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on August 27, 1965. Together, they had 2 sons, Troy and Shane, whom she was very proud of.
Janet worked as a security guard for Bucyrus-Erie and Farmers Insurance, where she retired. She also served as a reserve officer for the Chubbuck Police Department alongside her husband.
Janet loved being a grandma. She would make up excuses to get the grandkids to come over to visit. When the grandkids were there riding the 4-wheeler, she was there watching and laughing. Janet's grandkids have great memories of helping her assemble her custom-painted Christmas village, complete with businesses named after the grandkids, doing puzzles, and other crafting. She could be found out in her flower gardens.
Janet is survived by her brother Vance Mitton, her 2 sons, Troy Clinkscales and Shane Clinkscales; 6 grandchildren (Brianna, Kylie, Madison, Trenton, Jaidan, and Tyler); 3 great-grandchildren (Killian, Gwen and Dawson); and many other cherished family and friends. Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Steven Clinkscales; her parents, Monte and Faye Mitton; and her brothers, Kenneth Mitton and Dean Mitton.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wilks Funeral Home, located at 211 W Chubbuck Rd, Chubbuck, ID. Graveside services will be on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery located at 1520 S 5th Ave, Pocatello, ID.
Janet lived her life to the fullest. She worked hard, played hard, and loved even harder. She will be greatly missed.
