Janet L. Coeling, 88 of Elkhart, IN went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Janet was born on July 16, 1937 to Peter and Clara VanAntwerp in Grand Rapids, MI. Janet married Robert M. Coeling. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2019.
Janet graduated from high school and went on to earn her degree as a dental hygienist. In her younger years she was the co-owner and operator of a flower shop. She loved to serve the Lord and was a very active member at River Oaks Church in Goshen. She enjoyed collecting antiques throughout the years and making her yearly pilgrimage to the Netherlands with her family and friends. She and her husband (her “honey”) would go on many “boondoggles” together. The two of them had many, many adventures throughout their marriage and made many lifelong friends along the way. She loved to talk about her grandchildren and was in her glory when the great-grandchildren started to arrive.
Janet is survived by her daughter Brenda (Tom) Koert and her son Brent Coeling; grandchildren Susan Koert, Sarah Koert, Aaron (Melissa) Coeling, Bryant Coeling, Chad (Lynnea) Coeling and great-grandchildren Dallas, Tanner, Junior, Raven, Kacey, Bree, Theo, and Lacey; as well as her siblings, George (Sharon) Van Antwerp, Nancy (Rocky) Kinsman and Fred (Caroline) Van Antwerp.
A celebration of Janet’s Life will be celebrated at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Bob, at Bowne Mennonite Cemetery in Clarksville, Michigan.
