Obituary For Janet E. Croxton
Janet E. Stanford Croxton, aged 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 26, 2024, in Dallas, TX.
Janet was born on August 19, 1950, in Sidney, MT to Harold Stanford and Rosella Gunderson, Janet spent her educational years at Sidney Public Schools.
She married Melvin Croxton in 1978, and they made their home in Montana until 1986 when they moved to Decatur, TX and then later settled in Bowie, TX.
Mom devoted much of her professional life to customer service, working at the Triangle Night Club in Sidney, the Homestead in Sidney, the Hallmark Store in Decatur, and most recently (the last 20 years) at the Star Travel Center in Bowie as office manager.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Janet, affectionately known as Meme, thoroughly enjoyed quilting. She crafted numerous special quilts for her family members, weaving love and care into every stitch.
Meme cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished road trips and family visits, frequently traveling to Montana to see family and to Las Vegas to visit her brother Jeff.
Her love for travel and family gatherings highlighted her caring and adventurous spirit.
In 2009 Mom was diagnosed with PBC, a rare autoimmune liver disease. For 14 1/2 years she successfully managed this terrible disease, until 8 months ago. She silently dealt with so many obstacles and symptoms because mom was never one to complain or burden other people with her needs. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving mom, Meme, sister, and friend.
Janet is survived by her son, Waylon Olsen of Sidney, MT; daughters Carol Olsen Jackson of Irving, TX, Michelle Croxton of Bowie, TX; sons Jackie Croxton of Nocona, TX, Donald Croxton of Bowie, TX; and daughter Sheila Owens of Wichita Falls, TX. She also leaves behind three sisters, Carol Struckman of Savage, MT, Mona (Ron) Bailey and Sheila (Mike) Blohm all of Laurel, MT; and a brother, Pete (Joyce) Sifers of Sidney, MT. Janet's extended family includes 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews and an aunt, Lois Olson of Sidney, MT.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years; her parents; stepmother, Chris Stanford; sisters, Kay Price and Calena Anderson; and brothers, Ron Stanford and Jeff Sifers.
No memorial service is planned currently. Next summer, the family intends to honor Janet and her late husband's last wishes to have their ashes spread across Montana's Big Sky Country.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Liver Foundation at liverfoundation.org, honoring Janet's memory.
Arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, Texas.
