Janet DeChand Obituary
September 3, 1933 - February 4, 2026
Janet Marilyn DeChand passed away at the age of 92, feeling very blessed and thankful for a wonderful life. She was born to Cecil and Lucille Humphries in Wenatchee, Washington and graduated from WHS in 1951. Janet married Edwin DeChand Nov. 22, 1950 and together they had 4 children. Janet worked in the fruit industry for 30 years. Her favorite pastime was watching, but mostly participating in sports. She bowled for many years at both Columbia and Eastmont Lanes. Janet was president of the Wenatchee Womens Softball Association and was inducted into ASA women's fast pitch hall of fame. She played and coached softball for many years along side her husband Ed. Once retired they both took up golf and were members at Three Lakes Golf Club. Janet was active in the Women's 18 hole golf league, the 9 hole Sundowners league, and a member of the Women's traveling team. She also served on the board at Three Lakes Golf Club. Janet was a member of the Wenatchee Eagles Women's Auxiliary 204 since 1968, in 2024 & 2025 she was awarded Eagles Grandmother of the year.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband Ed, son Derek, father Cecil Humphries, mother Lucille Wiren, step dad John Wiren, brother and sister in law Richard, Frances Humphries and brother in law Vergil Murren.
She is survived by her children Gregg (Cheryl) DeChand, Denice (Stan) Stewart, Gloria DeChand (Carl Keen) and daughter in law Debbie DeChand, her sister Gloria Murren and brother Russel Pat (Becky) Humphries.
She is proud to be leaving a legacy of 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Janet has inspired many with her positive attitude, her love for her family and her zest for living life to its fullest! She will be missed but never forgotten and will forever be remembered for her acceptance, her kind gestures, her competitive spirit and her beautiful smile!
A very special Thank you from her children to the wonderful staff at Blossom Valley, to Hospice, to her doctors and to all of our family and friends for their love and support.
We truly appreciate every one of you!
A funeral service will be held at Sage Hills Church Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11AM. A viewing will take place before the service at 10AM.

I've known Janet since the mid '70s. She was one of the sweetest people I've ever known! She was always upbeat and had an amazing smile for everyone! She always encouraged her fellow softball players and was a positive role model. She will be missed by many many people.

So many wonderful memories and great times were had. Janet was just unstoppable in how she loved life, and loved her family and friends. She was a treasure for all of us and the last of a great generation in our DeChand family tree. Our loves goes out to her family - she will be missed.

What an inspirational Soul. She was a role model to so many in so many different areas. She certainly blessed my life and will always be my encourager. Her children, grandchildren and great grands were so incredible fortunate to have her guidance and encouragement. She will linger long in the hearts and minds of family and friends.
