She was born on December 21, 1943 at Gauley Bridge; she was the daughter of the late Henry Washington Dempsey and Myrtle L. Hash Dempsey.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Wheeler Dixon, Jr. and a brother, Clarence Dempsey.
Janet loved Jesus and church. She loved her cats, Monday night football, particularly the New England Patriots.
Those left to cherish her memory are 2 daughters, Johna (Matthew) White of Lansing, Julia Bowe of Lansing; 2 sons, Joseph Dixon of O'Possum Creek and John (Jenny) Dixon III of O'Possum Creek; sisters, Judy Blevins of South Charleston and Josie Spurlock of Michigan 4 grandchildren, Joseph II, Kristen, Mariah and Noah ; 6 great grandchildren.
Service will be 2:00 Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Sunday Road Baptist Church with Pastor Allen Donaldson and Pastor Greg Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lansing cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 until time of service at the church.
