Janet Elizabeth Dolan, age 91, of Roscommon, passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in the comforting presence of her family.

Janet was born November 25, 1933, in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Kenneth and Harriet "Lavina" (Caskey) Mills. She spent her childhood in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School. She married Glen George "Joe" Dolan on August 2, 1952. They were married for 47 years until Joe passed in December 1999. Both Janet and Joe were only children who dreamed of a large family. To that end, they were blessed with four loving daughters: Catherine (Jere) Spencer of Roscommon, Claudia "Cookie" (Joe) Bochniak of Petoskey, Cynthia (Dan) Wills of Freeland, and Cheryl Gillman of Houghton Lake.

Janet was overjoyed with the birth of each of her 13 grandchildren: Eric Spencer of Roscommon, Nathan (Ronda) Spencer of Roscommon, Brett (Shelley) Costello of Saline, Meghan Costello of Petoskey, Emily Bochniak of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Kaitlyn Bochniak of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jessica (Matt) McGuinnes of Petoskey, Sarah (Tim) Armstrong of Breckenridge, Danny (Amanda) Wills of Freeland, Andrew Wills of Bay City, Cyle Gillman (Justin Wyckoff) of Houghton Lake, Courtenay Gillman (Doug Conklin) of Ovid, and Ashlei Boice of Roscommon.

Her love and pride grew with 24 great-grandchildren: Brenden, Hunter, Justin, Zane, Kasen, Grant, Casey, Owen, Audrey, Luci, Brantley, Joey, Dolan, Ella, Taylor, Ryan, Douglas, Gabriel, Peyton, Finley, Ally, Memphis, Atlas, and Logan. Plus, a great-great-granddaughter: Brooklyn.

Janet worked for over 30 years in the grocery business before retiring. Retirement gave Janet more time to spend in her beautiful flower gardens, reading, and crafting. Janet and Joe became snowbirds, and she found her second home in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She spent 28 winters there.

Janet loved to go beachcombing whether at the ocean or here in Michigan's Great Lakes. Her happiest times were those spent with family and friends.

Janet faced the challenges of her life with grace and dignity, always with a smile and positive attitude. Her concern was always for her family and friends. She firmly believed that people should be kind to one another and proved it by the life she lived.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Janet's family would like to thank all the staff at Mission Point (Intersect Healthcare), Roscommon, for their love and support of Janet and all of us. We will always remember your kindness.

Family and friends will gather for her Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 7th at noon for visitation, with the service at 1:00 P.M. at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
