I will be honest: I was blessed with both an amazing paternal grandmother and an amazing maternal grandmother. Yet, even with that blessing, Grammy Douyard held a uniquely special place in my heart. She was one of the most outgoing and energetic people I have ever known in my entire life.Grammy Douyard was a doer. She loved to be "in motion" and to share that energy with us, her grandchildren. I traveled a lot with her and with my grandfather, Pepa Douyard, who passed before she did. She was intentional about making sure we had fun whenever we were with her, and that's one way I remember. Her personality was unforgettable, the kind that stays with you for life. I can still see her double dutch jump roping with my own children, her great-grandchildren, a memory my children carried into their adult lives and now into their lives as parents.Life has a way of moving quickly, and before we realize it, we find ourselves becoming grandparents too. I can personally testify to that reality. One thing I can say with certainty is that Grammy Douyard set the bar high and provided a powerful example of what an extraordinary grandparent should be. My deepest hope is that my grandchildren and great-grandchildren will love and remember me in the same way that I love and remember my wonderful Grammy Douyard.
I will always love and miss you, Grammy. Please save a seat for me at the table with God and the rest of our family in heaven. May you rejoice in life everlasting with the Lord, resting in His perfect peace and the renewed body He has given you. As it is written in Psalm 103:5, "who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle´s," may you once again soar, continuing to be a blessing there as you will forever be a blessing in my life here.
