Janet Yvonne Dunk (Hardcastle), 76, long-time resident of Yucaipa, CA, died from natural causes on July 5th 1, 2024, in Prescott, AZ. Janet was born September 9th, 1947, in Hanford, CA. She was raised by her mother, Vitalice Hardcastle, who was blind. She graduated from Hanford High School in 1965. In 1969 she met her future husband, Thomas Dunk when he walked into the employment office she was working at. On November 25, 1970, Jan and Tom were married in Riverside, CA. They moved to Yucaipa, CA in 1976 to raise their family. In 2015, Jan and Tom retired to Prescott, AZ. Janet worked for many years as an escrow officer and obtained her commercial real estate license. She was well known for her strong work ethic, great attitude and meticulous attention to detail. In 1999, Janet was diagnosed with benign brain tumors as well as bladder cancer. She overcame all expectations to become a cancer survivor and at the time of her death was cancer free. Janet was a devoted Christian, wife and mother. She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed being a grandmother to her two grandkids. She was an amateur geologist and an avid collector of antique dolls. She loved animals dearly and would often rescue dogs and cats. She loved country music and liked to sing old tunes with her son. She was the true heart of the Dunk family. Janet is survived by her husband at the family home in Prescott, AZ; two sons, Jason Dunk (Katie) of Yucaipa, CA and James Dunk of Prescott, AZ; two grandchildren, Kaia Reeve and Neil Dunk, both of Yucaipa, CA. Janet is also survived by her son Timothy Fahr from a previous marriage. Janet Dunk was interred at the Prescott National Cemetery in Prescott, AZ on July 25m, 2024.
