Janet J. Gilbert

Janet J. Gilbert, 75 of Gouldtown passed away early Thursday morning March 5, 2009 in the South Jersey Healthcare Inpatient Hospice Unit, Bridgeton. She had been a patient there for the past three days and in failing health since January. Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Hubert Sr. and Dorothy (nee Pierce) Gould, and the wife of Ralph C. Gilbert Sr.; whom she would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary with on the 31st of this month. Janet was one of the founders of King Memorial Church in Bridgeton and a dedicated member for 55 years, serving on both the Deaconess and Administrative Boards. She also was an active member of the Colonial Riders Motorcycle Club in Deerfield Twp., where she served as Wagonmaster for many years. Janet's greatest joys in life were camping with her family and friends and getting in the car with Ralph and "smelling gas", as they traveled the various roads and highways searching for treasure at yard sales and flea markets, especially Cowtown. Janet enjoyed flowers, loved her family and children, and was often the peacemaker when things weren't just quite right. She always anticipated spending time with her sister, Vandella. Janet will be sadly missed by her family who loved her dearly. Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband Ralph, four sons Ralph C. Gilbert Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Bridgeton, Hubert G. Gilbert and his wife Evelyn of Pittsgrove Twp., Kevin R. Gilbert and his wife Karen of Pleasantville, and Lonnie P. Gilbert and his wife Ronda of Millville, one daughter Carolyn Gilbert Lee and her husband Vandell of Pittsgrove Twp., and one sister Vandella Dunn and her husband Nathan C. Dunn of Marmora, 8 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. She was predeceased besides her parents by a sister Joyce Gould and two brothers Edgar Gould and Rev. Hubert Gould Jr.
