Janet Kay Granda, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, January 25, at the age of 87. Janet was born on June 1, 1937, in Glen Dale, West Virginia, to parents Roger and Geneva Martin and had a sister, Nancy Strope.
Janet married her high school sweetheart, Arch, in August 1961. Together, they celebrated the births of their daughter Christine in 1962, son Steven in 1966, and son Scott in 1971. Janet lived a life full of adventure, moving to Spain in 1971 for Arch's work, and then to England in 1974. After returning to the United States in 1980, they initially moved to Kingwood, Texas, then to Denver, Colorado for two years before finally settling in Kingwood in 1987. In Texas, Janet dedicated her time to giving back to her community as a hospital volunteer at Northeast Medical Center.
Janet's legacy of hospitality and warmth will be remembered by all who knew her. She welcomed everyone into her home, hosting many memorable birthday dinners and holidays. With an impressive eye for detail, Janet was a great entertainer and an even better chef, known for her outstanding pie crust and pot roast. Always there for those she loved, she took exceptional care of her family while maintaining her spirited and lively nature. She enjoyed golfing, going out to lunch with her friends, and spending lots of time with her granddaughter Katie during her formative years.
Janet is survived by her daughter Christine Lee and her husband Thomas, her son Steven Granda and his wife Kristin, and her granddaughters Katie Lee, Petra Granda, and Carmen Granda. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will forever cherish her memory.
