Janet Spivey Hardwick, age 78, of Galivants Ferry, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Grand Strand Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, SC.

She was born August 31, 1947, in Loris, S.C., the daughter of the late Grover Lee and Emma Jane Spivey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant son: Jonathan Hardwick, her sisters Linda C. Smith of Kings Mountain, NC, an infant sister Pamela Spivey, and a brother Charles Spivey, of Whiteville, NC.

Jan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Billy Wayne Hardwick, son Darren Hardwick (Lorie) and daughter Jennifer Johnson (Pete), and two brothers Ronnie Spivey (Connie) of Denver, NC and Gene Spivey of Belmont, NC, five grandchildren, Darren Hardwick, Jr., Haley Hardwick Eubanks (Griffin) of Lyman, SC, Emma, Dusty, and Amarii Johnson, and three great grandchildren Wren and Sadie Eubanks, and Braxton Barwick.

Jan was a faithful member of Berea Baptist Church for many years. She was an active member of the WMU and the adult choir, and sang alto in the Berea Quartet. She was a fan of gospel music, and she loved to travel to "SINGING IN THE SMOKIES." Her favorite groups included The Inspirations, The McKameys, The Perrys, and The Primitive Quartet.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Berea Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Berea Baptist Church with Rev. Ragsdale Allbrook, Rev. Darren Hardwick, and Rev. Pete Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Darren Hardwick, Jr., Dusty Johnson, Ryan Spivey, Wesley Spivey, Gerald Smith, and Landon Stocks. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in honor of Mrs. Janet Hardwick to Berea Baptist Church, P.O. Box 601, Aynor, SC 29511.
