Janet Gay Huff

Janet Gay Shinault Huff peacefully passed away at her home on December 3, 2025, with her devoted husband by her side. She was born on April 8, 1948, to the late Frank James Shinault and Mary Marrs Shinault. Janet lived life to its fullest and loved the Lord with her whole heart. She longed to hear the words, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant," and she lived every day with that purpose in mind. She loved deeply, and everyone blessed enough to receive that love will cherish it forever. A lifelong member of Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise-now Valley Church Roanoke-Janet served faithfully in many roles throughout the years. Outside of ministry, she spent three decades serving families in the Roanoke Valley through Nationwide Insurance Company, where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and genuine care for the people she helped. In her free time, Janet loved working puzzles, crafting, and decorating her home. She had a gift for hospitality and found great joy in hosting gatherings for family and friends-her door and her heart were always open. Her favorite moments, however, were the ones spent with her beloved grandbabies. Nothing quite compares to "Grandmomma's house," and she made sure every visit was filled with comfort, warmth, and special memories. She also treasured every trip back to West Virginia to visit dear lifelong friends-moments she held close to her heart. Janet is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jerri Cook, and her daughter, Holly Gay Lineberry.

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, James Huff; her sister, Joann Roseberry; her children, Kristen Criner (Keith), Lee Huff, and Krista Meeks (Allen); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two nephews; and her loving cat, Fiona. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
