Janet was a woman of many careers and talents. After high school she went on to become a Registered Nurse and subsequently married her first husband Bud Maxwell. After Bud died Janet took over the family business, Maxwell Marine in Scituate, running it successfully for the next 20 years. She married Tony, a Doctor in Marshfield, in 1969 and returned to nursing helping him with his practice until their retirement.
Janet, never someone to sit still, decided to become a Clown with Jeannie Lindheims's Hospital Clown Troupe entertaining children in local hospitals, she always felt this was the best job that she ever had! In her "free" time she enjoyed bird carving, playing her piano and hanging out with her many, many friends.
Her remains will be laid to rest in Couch Cemetery of Marshfield in a private ceremony. Donations in Janet Ionta's memory can be made to The Special Olympics, online at Special Olympics Giving
