She was born on November 15, 1949, in Oxford, Nebraska, the daughter of Alvon and Addie (Duncan) Kehr. She was raised and educated in Oxford, NC, graduating from Oxford High School in 1967. She attended the Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and received an Associate's Degree. She married James Johnson on July 15, 1978, in Holdrege, Nebraska. She worked as a Legal Assistant, first for five years with Person, Dier, and Person Law Office in Holdrege, NE, and 37 years until her retirement in 2016, with the Javoronok Law Firm in Scottsbluff, NE. After retirement she and her husband moved to Bemidji, MN, in 2017. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Nebraska Association of Legal Secretaries, a lifetime member of the VFW, including Post #1260 of Bemidji, A lifetime member of the Disabled American Veteran's, including Post #7 in Bemidji, and a member of the Headwater's Quilting Guild in Bemidji. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, bird watching, going for rides, and she loved spending time with her family, especially grandkids and great-grandkids. She was remembered by her grandchildren for her holiday meals that brought the whole family together, that was how she showed her love. Her crafts are something that will be cherished by her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was so supportive of them with their hobbies. If they mentioned enjoying something or wanting to learn, she would soon show up with all the supplies to get started. She had a heart of gold. Her husband James remembers how she would make his favorite meal when he was home on leave, "biskits and gravy." She would put tiny butter flakes in the Pillsbury bisquits, and laugh, an inside joke they shared for years. Her love of her grandkids was amazing, and she taught, "you don't have to be blood, to love like blood. Her daughter remembers her as a strong, determined, loving and funny person. They say that she was TNT packed in a little body. If she wanted something done, she would find a way. She was an exceptional mother with the best personality. She so enjoyed being a mother, she enjoyed being gifted a crooked afghan for Mother's Day, and drinking her vanilla coffee on her birthday.

She is survived by her: Husband, James Johnson of Bemidji, MN,

Traci Thomas of Ft. Worth, TX,

Son, Matthew Johnson of Bertrand, NE,
