Janet Klauer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home on Dec. 10, 2024.
Janet M. Klauer, 77 of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at her home.
Jan was born on June 1, 1947, in Watertown, WI, the daughter of Gerhard "Butch" and Frances (Weber) Kornstedt. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1965 and married Raymond Klauer on December 6, 1969. The couple had 5 children and celebrated 55 years of marriage a few days before her death. The family enjoyed many camping trips to Wisconsin State Parks and drives to Holy Hill. Jan and Ray were leaders in Marriage Encounter, a Christian weekend marriage retreat, and witnessed the fruits of their labors in many marriages. Jan loved to quilt and do other stitch crafts, gifting her creations to the people she loved. She was a talented baker, an avid reader, dedicated fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, and she loved children. Jan had an appreciation for all nature, but especially hummingbirds. Jan and Ray were lifelong members of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the couple served in many ways there. Whether it be serving communion to shut-ins, volunteering at Christmas Neighbors, or helping her friends, Jan looked for opportunity to show Christ's love through her actions. Jan had a desire to share her family, especially her distant relatives, with her children and would visit people often, with 5 kids in tow. She laughed and teased often, and she loved her grandchildren dearly. Although she will be dearly missed, her family is thankful for such a loving wife, understanding mother, and wonderful example of how to live life well.
She is survived by: her husband Ray Klauer of Jefferson; children Amy (Brian) Christian, Chad (Chris) Klauer, Todd (Heather) Klauer, Tami Klauer, and Brian (Mandie) Klauer; grandchildren Adam (Tracey) Harpster, Ben Harpster, C.J. (Lauren) Harpster, Kiley (Cody) Nicholson, Nash Christian, Maren Christian, Brayden Klauer, Maddie Klauer, and Quincy Klauer; great-grandchildren Tessie and Baby Girl Nicholson in January, 2025. Jan is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara (Mike) Bubolz, and her husband's parents Art and Ruth Klauer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, December 16, 2024, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Jefferson with Msgr. Donn Heiar presiding. Visitation will be from 3:00PM – 5:00PM on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home, with a Rosary Service at 5:00PM. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Jan will be laid to rest at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.
