Janet Lind

Janet E. Lind (Lumsden), 82, of Roscoe IL, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. She was born December 24, 1943, in Rockford IL, the daughter of Clifford and Elsie (Comstock) Lumsden.

Janet was a long-time resident of the Rockford, Roscoe area, having attended West High School's graduating class of 1961. After graduation, she attended cosmetology school and worked for many years as a cosmetologist while raising her daughter with her husband John (Jack) Lind, whom she married, May 8, 1965, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rockford IL.

Janet went on to work in the pharmaceutical packaging industry for numerous years. She started as a packer moving up to a Quality Control and Policy supervisor, which she retired from in 2001.

Janet and Jack enjoyed time spent investigating locations throughout North America, in their 5th-wheel, from 1982-2000, when Jack passed away. After his passing, Janet frequently spent time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Janet was an avid bowler, bowling a number of 300 games. She was a devoted reader, enjoyed gardening in her flowerbeds, sewing, and even tried her hand at quilting. Janet took great pride in taking care of her home and lawn. She enjoyed church and helping where needed within the congregation, and attending Bible study with her church friends. Janet especially enjoyed spending time with her friends in her lunch and games groups.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Kym Lind of Rockford; grandchildren, Jesstine (Matthew) Johnson of Loves Park and Andrew Johnson of Rockford; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Grant McKibben of Poplar Grove, Elijah and Elsie Johnson of Loves Park; brother, Theodore (Pamela) Lumsden of Gurley, Alabama; nieces, Jada (Paul) Butler and Kassy Lumsden; nephews, Mark (Tonda) Melenas, Scott (Janine) Showen and Jason (April) Lumsden, along with many great-nephews and nieces.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Lind; parents, Clifford and Elsie (Comstock) Lumsden and sister, Lorretta Seeling.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer plants or a memorial donation be made to Northern Illinois Hospice at 4751 Harrison Ave., Rockford, IL 61108 or the Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL 61072.
