Janet Madrid Chesnut Obituary

Janet Lee Quesenbery Sturdevant Madrid Chesnut passed on August 30, 2024 from complications with a long term battle with cancer at her home in Prescott, Arizona. Janet was born on May 3, 1954 in Galax, Virginia to parents Robert and Alaska (Chickie) Quesenberry. In 1957 Janet moved to McGrath, Alaska with her brother and mother. In 1960 her mother and stepfather, Dutch Sturdevant, moved the family to Clinton, (Whidbey Island) Washington. In 1969 her stepfather retired and moved the family to Prescott, Arizona

Janet graduated from Prescott High School in 1972. She retired from US West aka Mountain Bell in 1994. Her early retirement allowed her to care for her mother, grandchildren, traveling and volunteering at Habitat for Humanity and the Pioneer Home.

Janet was so full of life and very energetic up to the end. She enjoyed working in her yard and taking vacations back home to Whidbey Island and visiting her family in Virginia. She loved helping and spending time with her friends and family. She was very selfless and thought of everyone else above herself. She passionately loved her family. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her father, Robert Q uesenberry, sister, Jo Roddy, niece, Ashley Sturdevant, daughters, Stacy (Daniel) Padilla, and Monica Madrid. Grandchildren, Cole, Sable, Marcus, Monty, and Olivia. Step Grandchildren, Shaun Jr, Rico, Michelle, and Great Granddaughter Gianna. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Chesnut, Mother, Alaska Sturdevant, Stepfather Dutch Sturdevant, and Brother, Robert Sturdevant.

She will be dearly missed.

The family will honor Janet’s wishes to have a private family service on Whidbey Island in Washington at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers please donate to the National Ataxia Foundation. In honor of Janet’s mother, brother and niece.
