Janet Susan Maino (née Flieger) died peacefully on February 14th, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born on January 25th, 1953 to Raymond and Jean Flieger (Scro). She is survived by her children Gina and Michael; grandsons Sebastian and Henry; son-in-law Tony; daughter-in-law Megan; partner Al; ex-husband Mike; siblings Barbara, Nancy, Scott, Ed, and Jim; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Janet was born in Rockville Centre, New York and grew up in West Hempstead and Malverne. She graduated from Valley Stream North High School in 1971. She married Mike Maino on May 5th, 1974. Janet found her spiritual home in St. William the Abbot in Seaford, and she loved volunteering for its youth group. Janet spent the last fifteen years of her career serving in the building and zoning department of the Village of Massapequa Park. She was proud to have obtained her bachelor’s degree in social work from Molloy College in 2010. Janet loved gardening, reading, and swimming at Marjorie Post Pool, but most of all she loved her family and friends. She cherished her role as mom and mema. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18th, 4-8 PM
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 19th, 9:30 AM
St. William the Abbot RC Church, Seaford, NY
