Janet McPartlin Obituary
JANET L. McPARTLIN – Wife, Mother, Godmother and Friend
Janet L. McPartlin touched all those she loved with her tender soul, generosity and resounding strength.
Janet McPartlin was born on August 11, 1952 in Dearborn, Michigan, to Albert and Audrey Lorente. She graduated with honors from Riverside High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, in 1970 and pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University in English. During her education, trailblazing Janet became the first female server at The London Chop House in Detroit, MI where she would meet Shawn McPartlin. The two married on August 8th, 1980 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. During their 44 blissful years of marriage, Janet and Shawn had two children, Patrick Shawn in 1987 and Morgan Elizabeth 1991.
Janet's professional career began at the Detroit Medical Center/Sinai Grace Hospital. She would later hold the position of Director of Admitting at Karmano's Cancer Center in Detroit. From then, Janet's professional life became a mission to impact lives, extending her empathy and kindness to those battling illnesses while working for Home Instead. Then, in what she defined as her "Second Act", Janet discovered her love for cultivating knowledge in children of all ages while she was a Tutor with Huntington Learning Center in Birmingham, as well as Substitute Teaching in Birmingham Public Schools. In her most recent position as a Paraprofessional with Clawson Public Schools, Janet's calming nature created safe environments for Special Need's children to thrive.
Janet adored traveling with her children, traversing Michigan's coastlines, exploring new restaurants and watching Duke nosedive into water for his toys. She lived life in the moment, never forgetting that she was a breast cancer survivor and always looking for God's lessons. Her vivacious spirit and magnetic soul healed those around her. Janet possessed a unique ability to instill confidence in all she loved and was the champion of making action plans over great glasses of wine. Her endless courage, generosity and love, knew no bounds.
She was the light when it was dark, the kindness in trying moments, and tender warmth when her loved ones needed it the most.
Janet L. McPartlin embodied all the magnificent beauty that life had to offer, and the gravity of her unexpected death is felt by every single person she touched.
Janet is survived by her husband, Shawn; children, Patrick and Morgan; her furry grandson, Duke; her brothers Robert (Carol) and Russel (Carol); and many loving brother and sister in-laws; nieces, nephews; and friends.
