Janet Margaret Larson Nold passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 27, 2026, in Morton Grove, IL. She was born September 3, 1934, in St. Paul, MN, to Margaret and Ernest Larson. Janet grew up in a loving family with her sister, Marilyn (Larson) Heiple, and brother, Marvin Larson, spending time with a large circle of aunts, uncles, and cousins in Minnesota. Janet graduated from St. Paul's Central High School in 1951 and as a Registered Nurse from the Hamline University School of Nursing in 1955. She enjoyed attending her 50th-year high school reunion with her childhood friends in St Paul. Janet and her future husband, James Robert "Jim" Nold, met through correspondence when he was in Korea and married on June 11, 1956. They raised their family in Tomah, WI, where their three children graduated from high school. She also lived in La Crosse, WI, and Evanston, IL, to be close to family later in life. Janet's favorite times in life included raising her children, spending time with all relatives in MN, and traveling with Jim after they retired. She had many friends through her nursing occupation and also enjoyed being in her church circle at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah, WI. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; son, Thomas James Nold; her parents; and her two siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Jane Margaret Nold (Stephen) Lupton, Elizabeth Susan "Betsy" Nold (Michael) Bruner, and her grandchildren, who knew her love firsthand, David, Margaret, Marta, Greta, and Leila, as well as two precious great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her surviving additional family (including nieces, nephews, and her in-laws) for being loving, silly, and fun. Janet loved books and reading and spent many hours at the local library. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Tomah Public Library, 716 Superior Ave., Tomah, WI 54660. Her family is thankful to everyone that enriched Janet's life, and there are many of you. A private family service will be held with burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN, where her husband is interred. Funeral info: 847.673.6111 or
