Janet Adeline Olson was born on May 25, 1940, to James and Sylvia (Jelinek) Fronk of Hillsboro, Wisconsin. She passed away on January 26, 2025, after a brief illness in Menasha, Wisconsin, with her eldest daughter by her side. All of her children were able to spend time with her and say their goodbyes before her passing.
Janet was the first of seven children on the farm. Janet graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958 and moved to Madison to pursue a nursing degree. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1959 and started working for Madison General Hospital. Janet worked in general medicine, the new overnight surgery ward, same-day surgery, and was one of the first LPN's to work in the Emergency Room. She finished her full-time career in Endoscopy, retiring in 2003. Following her retirement, Madison General became Meriter Hospital and Janet went back working in pain management for a few more years.
In 1962, Janet had met David Olson and they married on June 7, 1963, raising three children together until his passing in 2019. They owned and operated Nora's Bachelors Two and had many adventures along the way. Janet, in addition to working at both the hospital and Nora's, kept the house, was an avid gardener, reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast, baker, and walker. Her other passion was the St. Paul's Liberty Church in Deerfield. She served on the church council as President, Secretary of the Women's Circle, Lector for church services, and served on the Altar Guild. Janet touched many lives by her loving, caring, and selfless character. She found joy in thinking and doing for others
Janet leaves behind her loving children: Jeanne (Paul J.) Schneider, Janice (Mike) Boutin, and Ole (Renee) Olson; her 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren – "I love you Grandma Llama, you will be missed!"; her sisters: Elenor (Gary) LaChapelle and Laurie Fronk; her brothers: Laurence Fronk and James (Dawn) Fronk; her sister-in-law, Elaine Fronk; as well as a multitude of friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers: Thomas and John.
Janet is at peace and her family takes great comfort knowing that she is a beloved child of God and that death will not have the final word. We do not grieve without hope.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to ThedaCare Hospice and Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home for the care they gave her.
The Memorial Service for Janet will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church, 3494 Oak Park Road, Deerfield, Wisconsin 53531. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. The Wisconsin Nurses Honor Guard will have a presentation starting at the beginning of the Memorial Service.
