Janet Ann Pauley

Janet A. Pauley, a resident of North Wilkes-Barre, passed into eternal life while in the care of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Tuesday, October 27th following a recent illness.
She was a loving "Auntie" to Maryanne Blake, Christopher (Allyson) Pienta, Tony C. Rasimas, Sharon (Jim) Battles, Alexandra (Jim) Swope, Stephen Pauley, Michael (Caity) Pauley, Katharine Leonard, Sandra (Ian) Brunner, Mary (Kyle) Leonard, Amanda (Ethan) Showers, Gillian Murray, and Kathryn (Ronan) Murray and was "fairy godmother" to Courtney Nelson. She took them to zoos, mansions and museums, and tutored them if they asked.
She loved reading and buying books for little Jameson and Palmer Showers, Anora and J.J. Swope and Sylvi Brunner.
After receiving her first degree from Wilkes College, Janet worked as an Osterhout Branch Librarian in Plains and at South Branch. She fielded a lot of questions, like "What are the effects of mercury pollution?" and helped identify creatures found in back yards.
She earned a second degree, in accountancy and became a C.P.A, working in Wilkes-Barre and Lancaster. On days off, she hosted family tours to the Sturgis pretzel factory and the Amish Museum and fed everyone Whoopie Pies. She then spent two years as primary caregiver for her aged father.
She is survived by siblings Robert Pauley, Andrea McGuire and Anita (Bill) Leonard, Aunt Barbara (Tony) Rasimas, and sister-in-law Joan Pauley.
She was preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Ann (Andrasko) Pauley, her brother Jerome "Jerry" Pauley, and her brother-in-law Robert McGuire. Perhaps she will also be reunited with her sweet Maltese Benjy.
Per her previous request, funeral services for Miss Pauley will be held privately and at the convenience of her family with no formal visitation. The John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc. of Wilkes-Barre is honored to care for our neighbor, Miss Pauley and her family at this time.
