Janet Reynolds Obituary
Janet Marie Barker Reynolds was born April 15, 1932, until July 30, 2025, age 93, of Gretna, Virginia, passed away at Fairmont Crossing Health & Rehabilitation in Amherst. She was in the care of NAYAR Hospice of Bedford.
Born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, she was the youngest of 11 children of the late Clinton Scott Barker and Daisy Jacobs Barker. She was known affectionately by her nickname "Cutta" to most of her family and some friends. She was a lifelong industrial seamstress and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, reading, planting flowers, bird watching, fall day trips to see the Blue Ridge Parkway foliage, and picnics. She had a great sense of humor. She deeply loved her family and her family loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Lucy Barker, Nellie Shelton, Clara Elliott, Flora Davis, Kermit Barker, Thelbert Barker, Stuart Barker, Hoover Barker, and Harold Barker.
She is survived by two daughters: Lucy Reynolds of Gretna, Va., and Patricia Elixson (Jeff) of Goldsboro, N.C.; one granddaughter, Carrie Elixson of Goldsboro, N.C.; one sister, Caroline "Kay" Arthur of Coleman Falls, Va.; many nieces and nephews of which two nieces were very special: Kim Davis (Jack) of Wingina, Va., and Cindy Krahn (Michael), of Monroe, Va.
She will be cremated, and her ashes will be privately laid to rest at the Barker Family Cemetery in Hurt, Va. No services are planned at this time.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to any charity or organization that deals with children or the senior populations.
