Janet Ropes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Utica on Dec. 6, 2025.
Janet M. Ropes, age 83, of Utica, Michigan, passed away on December 5, 2025. She was born on March 15, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Joseph and Martha Feger.

Janet was the beloved wife of the late David Ropes, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage. Together, they built a warm, welcoming home and a family rooted in love, faith, and togetherness. She was the cherished mother of David (Andrea) Ropes Jr., Nicole (Zayne) Roumaya, Jonathan (Stacie) Ropes, and James (Tanya) Ropes. Janet was also a proud and devoted grandmother to Ashley (Craig), Christopher (Katie), Elena, Faith, Nathan, Grace, Garrett, Carissa, and Alyvia, and a loving great-grandmother to William and Gabriel.

A dear sister to many, Janet was preceded in death by her parents but carried their values of kindness, compassion, and hospitality throughout her life. She embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom and grandmother, finding joy in caring for her family and creating a home where everyone felt welcome. Known affectionately as the "community Kool-Aid mom," her house was always a gathering place for neighborhood children and friends-a place filled with laughter, comfort, and unconditional love.

Janet had a deep appreciation for flowers and nature, and she found simple joy in the beauty of God's creation. She also enjoyed watching Fox News, keeping herself informed and engaged with the world. Above all, her greatest passion was her faith. Janet lived her life devoted to Christ, and her love for the Lord shone brightly through her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering strength.

Janet leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and warmth that will continue to live on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the blessing of knowing her. A visitation will take place at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Rd (3Blks E. of Van Dyke) Utica, on Monday (December 8th) from 2pm -8pm. Funeral service will take place the following day, Tuesday (December 9th) at Trinity Lutheran Church 45160 Van Dyke Ave, Utica. She will lie instate at 9:30am until the time of service at 10am.
