Janet Kay Scharnhorst, age 64, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away September 2, 2024. She entered this life on May 9, 1960, the daughter of Johnny and JoKay (Silkey) King in Kansas City, Missouri. Janet was joined in marriage to James Patrick Thurman.
With a passion for music, Janet was a talented singer who loved country music. She enjoyed playing lottery tickets, going to casinos, and getting all dolled up. Janet was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her, and she adored spending time with them, especially the grandchildren. The memories and moments created over her beautiful lifetime will be treasured forever by all who knew her.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Samantha King of Springfield, Missouri; sons: James Ray King and husband, Charles of Springfield, Missouri, James Ralph King of Kansas City, Missouri, and Ronnie King of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren: David Choate, Zayden King, Darius King, Isaiah King, Mia King, Brody King, and Marlee King; aunt, Louann Hall of Conway, Missouri; cousin, Teresa Cossey of Conway, Missouri; daughters-in-law, Mandy and Candy; as well as many other friends and extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert King; and spouse, James Patrick Thurman.
There are no formal services planned at this time. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
