Janet Rhea Schwab, 93, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on September 26, 2025. Born on February 2, 1932, to the late James Wright and Valoise Shawhan, Janet lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories.
She is survived by her loving children: David Byrd (Jo Ann), Tom Byrd (Rita), and Lorie Thornberry (Jamie). She was also blessed with 7 beautiful grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Janet is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John David Schwab, and her sisters, Julia Cotton and Shirley Kegley.
Janet lived with a joyful spirit and a love for people. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling with friends, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her endless pride and happiness, and she cherished every moment with them.
Visitation will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens East on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, with burial immediately after.
In memory of Janet, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Kentucky, an organization close to their hearts.
Janet will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend. Her grace, joy, and kindness will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
