Janet Marie Shay

Janet M. Shay, 90, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 1, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on August 30, 1934, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Merle (Immel) Keeler. She married her beloved husband Walter Shay, Sr. on October 10, 1953, who preceded her in death on January 10, 2015, after sharing over 61 years of marriage together.
She is survived by her sister, Louise Carter of Bellevue Nebraska, stepson, John Hinds of Bellefonte, PA and daughter in law, Lorna Shay of Bellefonte by 4 grandchildren, Gregory Shay of Spring Mills, Shannon Shay (Angel) of Bellefonte, Charlene Shay (Joseph) of Bellefonte, and Megan Gates (Craig) of Spring Mills. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren Summer, Shannon jr. Mackenzie, Natasha, Neaveh, Melodie, Mariah, Kayden, Savannah, Axel and four great great grandchildren, Darrian, Hayden, Deagen, Styles.
In addition to her husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by a son, Walter L. Shay, Jr., her twin sister, Jane Keeler, two brothers, Bill and Pauly Keeler.
Janet enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, and cracking jokes. She leaves behind many memories that her loved ones will forever cherish.
There will be a public viewing on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 10:00am until 11:00am, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Greg Shipe officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
