Janet L. Sorbara, born on October 8, 1958, in Ravenna, Ohio, passed away peacefully in Akron, Ohio, on September 22, 2025. She was a bright light in this world between her love for pigs, cooking, and her family. She made a massive impact on everyone she knew and we hope she’s remembered for being the selfless, caring, stubborn and strong women that she was. Janet dedicated her primary career to nurturing her family, while also sharing her entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of a family restaurant.
Throughout her life, Janet’s heart was filled with joy for her family gatherings, which often revolved around delicious meals crafted with care and love. Her delight in cooking was matched only by her enthusiasm for spending time with her loved ones, whether it was sharing laughs at the casino or settling in to watch real-life crime shows with her children. Janet also had a playful spirit, evident in her love for all music, sports and her collection of pigs.
Janet leaves behind her devoted husband of 36 years, Joe Sorbara, who stood by her side through all of life's journeys. Her children, Andria (Sam) Phillips, Jennifer Contracier, Stephanie (Josh) Cummings, and Robi (Ryan) Cucerzan, will forever cherish the memories of their mother, who was their greatest supporter and friend. The joy of her life is reflected in her grandchildren, Kyle Fischer & Brent, Cole, Carly Phillips, Isabella & Ayden Contracier, Madison & Chloe Gaul, and Nathan Cucerzan, who filled her days with laughter and love.
Janet is survived by her siblings, Donna Loudin, Charlie Loudin, Ciarra (Nate) Brunn, and Zach (Gretchen) Loudin, as well as her caring mother-in-law, Lola Sorbara, and her siblings-in-law, Vicki (Tim) Sorbara-Miller and Mark (Mary) Sorbara. Each of them carries a piece of Janet's spirit and the many memories they shared together.
She was predeceased by her mother, Shirley Bogard; father, Charles (Nadine) Loudin; sister, Cindy (Steve) Bell; and father-in-law, Joe A. Sorbara. The loss of Janet leaves an undeniable void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
