Janet Gay Swartzentruber

Janet Gay Swartzentruber age 87 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at her home.
She was born December 13, 1935 in LaGrange, Indiana Daughter of the late Glen and Bernice (Brockway) Hesher.
Mrs. Swartzentruber resided in Sturgis since 1972 coming from Arkansas.
On October 8, 1955 she married David William Swartzentruber in Howe, Indiana.
She retired from Ross Laboratories in Sturgis following several years of dedicated employment. She had also worked at the Paramount Furniture Company in Sturgis. While living in Arkansas she worked at Baxter Laboratories, was a representative and sales lady for Studio Girl Cosmetics and did babysitting from her home.
Mrs. Swartzentruber loved crafts and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidering and was a talented seamstress making much of her children's clothes and collected cookie jars and Beanie Babies.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years: David William; children: Vickie Johnson of Burr Oak, Lonnie Swartzentruber and Monte Swartzentruber both of Sturgis; grandsons: Dusty Kime and Johnathan Swartzentruber; sisters: her twin: Jeanette Swartzentruber of Centreville and Jeannie Hart of Scott, Indiana and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Eldon Swartzentruber and brothers: Jim Hesher and Dave Hesher.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, April 21st at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 22nd at the First Baptist Church in Sturgis. Pastor Doug Noonkester will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville.
