Janet Elaine (Sheets) Thompson, loving Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, passed away March 28, 2026, in Choctaw, Oklahoma.

Born June 18,1952 in Altus Arkansas to Norris and Iva Jane Sheets. Janet was the oldest of 3 children. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northwest Classen in 1970.

Janet married Robert Hagstrom in 1970 with whom three children were born: Natalie, Scott, and Jennifer. While Robert was in the Air Force, they were stationed at Keesler Air Force Base Mississippi, Barksdale Air Force Base Louisiana, Anderson Air Force Base Guam and Tinker Air Force Base Oklahoma.

She was married to Alan Thompson in 1990 until his death in 2017.

Janet retired from the US Bankruptcy Court in 2019 after thirty-three years. She lived in Del City for over forty years before relocating to Choctaw.

Janet enjoyed working in the children's ministry at Sunnylane United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Janet wrote and directed the children's Christmas and Easter programs before her health declined.

She enjoyed gardening and knitting in her retirement. She loved bragging about her sweet potatoes.

Family was the most important to Janet. If you know Janet, you know love.

Janet is survived by her 3 children: Natalie and Jonathan Brittingham, Scott Hagstrom and Tricia Maio, and Jennifer and Clayton Coker; her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Rachel Brittingham and Nia Jones, Amelia Brittingham, Caleb Brittingham, Dane Hagstrom, Tess Hagstrom, Aaron Coker and Madison Armstrong, Rachel and Cam Hawkins, Sara Coker, Charlie Coker, and Evelyn Armstrong; her siblings, James Sheets and Nancy Phillips; niece, Janie Joplin, and nephew Daniel Gibson and their families.

Janet is also survived by her best friend of over 65 years, Marcia Chaffee; her dear friend Sheila Darnell; and her neighbors who became family, David West, Laura Robison and children.

A Memorial Service for Janet will be held at 4:00pm, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Sunny Lane United Methodist Church, 2020 S Sunnylane Rd, Del City, OK 73115.
