Janet Truex

Janet Truex, 76, of Sebastian, Florida passed away on December 21, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and the steady heart of her family.

Janet was a mother in the truest sense of the word, someone who gave endlessly, loved fiercely, and made the world safer just by being in it. Her kitchen was the heart of her home. No one ever left her table hungry, and no one ever left without feeling welcome. Her recipes were not always written down, but they were passed on through memories, laughter, and the simple comfort of being together.

Janet was known for her kindness, strength and generosity and touched the lives of everyone she met. She loved spending time at the river. It was her peaceful place that she shared with her family. She taught those who loved her the value of sharing what you have and taking care of one another. Her love lives on in shared meals, in riverbanks that now feel sacred, and in the hearts of everyone she loved.

Janet was born on December 24, 1948, in Queens, New York and had been a resident of Sebastian for over 50 years coming from New Jersey.

Janet leaves behind her children, Denise Downs (Robert), Tara Miranda (George), Glenn Truex (Karen), and Dennis Truex; her seven grandchildren, Shawn, Hanna, Ryan, Coral, Savannah, George, and Glenn; her five great-grandchildren, Greyson, Hayden, Liam, Ben, and Carmella who were the light of her life and the reason her kitchen was always full and her heart always open.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Truex.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved. A celebration of life will be held at the river, where she found peace and joy, and where the family will gather to honor her memory.
