Janet Louise Walter

1941 - 2026

Janet Louise Walter, age 85, of Jenison, Michigan, formerly of Carson City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Cambridge Manor – South Assisted Living.

Born on January 14, 1941, in Bloomington Township, Montcalm County, Janet was the daughter of Paul Brown and Doris Taylor. She graduated from Carson City High School and went on to build a life defined by family and hard work.

On April 8, 1960, Janet married Edward Duane Walter at the Carson City United Methodist Church. Together they raised five sons. Her devotion to her family was evident in the steady support she provided throughout the years.

Janet worked for many years as a cook at The Bamboo Restaurant in Carson City, where she was known for her reliability and skill in the kitchen. Cooking and baking were lifelong passions. She was especially known for her Homemade Noodiles, Chex Mix and her Christmas sugar cookies-dozens upon dozens made each year, each one carefully decorated. In her free time, Janet enjoyed fishing and her annual camping trips. She was also frequently found on the sidelines of her grand kids sporting events.

Janet is survived by her sons: Tim (Amber) Walter, Bruce Walter, Mike (Connie) Walter, Carl (Christina) Walter, and Stuart (Julie) Walter; her twelve grandchildren-Jordan, Caleb, Jenaca, Brandon, Chelsea, Dylan, Megan, Corbin, Alex, Justin, Trever, and Ashley; and her eight great-grandchildren-Cameron, Chloe, Camden, Tristen, Chase, Evelyn, Elwyn, and Oliver. She is also survived by her siblings Betty Nickerson (Jacobs), Leonard Jacobs and Phyllis Wall (Jacobs).

She was preceded in death by her husband- Edward Duane Walter, her Parents, and Brother- David Brown. A private family memorial will be held.
