Janetta Bentle Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 12, 2025.
Janetta Marie Bentle, 94, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on November 9, 2025. She was born on June 18, 1931, in Lawrenceburg, to the late Carl and Irene Swango.
Janetta lived a full and loving life centered around faith, family, and community. A devoted member of the Greendale Church of Christ, she had been active in the Bright Home Economics Club, the Eastern Star of Lawrenceburg, and spent many years as a poll worker in the elections. A natural leader and nurturer, she also served as a Cub Scout leader, and was involved in the PTA, sharing her time and heart with young people in her community.
At home, Janetta found joy in the simple and meaningful things - tending to her yard, decorating for each season and holidays, and was in her glory cooking for family and gatherings. Her holiday meals were eagerly anticipated, and her famous peach cobbler, mashed potatoes, potato salad, pineapple & cheese salad, and beef barley soup were just a few of the family favorites. Above all, she cherished time spent with her loved ones.
She is survived by her daughter Lynda Kay Bentle; her daughter-in-law Deborah Ruth Bentle; her sister-in-law Laura "Suzie" Swango; her grandchildren Brittany Robbins, Jaymee Bentle, Brigham (Marissa) Robbins; her great-grandchildren McCall Alaine and Callahan Duke Robbins, along with many nieces and nephews.
Janetta was preceded in death by her beloved husband Cecil "Duke" Bentle; her son Randy Bentle; her parents Carl and Irene Swango; and her siblings Mary Day, Ruth Fryman, Ruby Woliung, Dora Lee Harness, and Lloyd Swango.
Funeral services will be held at the Greendale Church of Christ on November 14th with visitation from 10-12. Services will begin at 12 pm with burial to follow at Gibson Cemetery, Bright, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made in Janetta's memory to the Bright Life Squad.
Janetta will be remembered for her kind spirit, strong faith, and the warmth she brought to every home and heart she touched.
