Trannie Janette Mitchell, age 86, of Aiken, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 11th, 2024. She was born in Aiken County, SC on Saturday, July 2, 1938 to the late Jesse "Son" Cockrell and Camilla Long Cockrell. She was a member of the Aiken Shrine Club where she and her husband were very devoted. Mrs. Mitchell loved to shop, had a great sense of humor, and was a true people person. She would never be caught without the perfect hairstyle and clothes to match, and always had her sidekick, Charlotte, by herside. Mrs. Mitchell was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children, Robert Padgett (Christine), Debra Ann Smith, and James Padgett (Patti); four grandchildren, Beth Overton (Ryan), Jessica Seawright (Sean), Jeniffer Boyd (Chris), and C.J. Padgett. Mrs. Mitchell is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Karli, Quaide, Levi S., Nathan, James, Sadie, Camilla, Lilly-Pearl, Levi P. and Ryan; two brothers, Garvin Cockrell (Freida) and Paul Cockrell (Geannie); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her fur baby, Charlotte. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Anthony "Tony" Mitchell; and granddaughters, Lyn Padgett and Mika Boyd.
The funeral service for Mrs. Mitchell will be held at 3 o'clock on Wednesday, August 14th at Samaria Baptist Church with Rev. Manuel Gunter Officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning in the sanctuary from 2 until 3 o'clock.
The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaria Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 6560 Fairview Road, Batesburg, SC 29006.
