Janette E. Smith

Janette E. Smith, age 71, life resident of Pulaski, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Monday, March 16th. Janette was born August 6, 1954, in Syracuse, the daughter of Kenneth and Elizabeth Baldwin Atkinson. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1974 and, on August 17 of that same year, married her husband of 51 years, William Smith. Jan was employed by Cornell Cooperative Extension as a 4-H Coordinator for 16 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Pulaski Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #159. Jan loved the outdoors and was in her garden no matter what the season was and was an active member of the American Iris Society. You would always find her outside walking around barefoot. She loved her family and would show it by always making tasty desserts, from pies to cream puffs.

Janette is survived by her husband, William, her two daughters, Jaime (John) Barnes of Fort Worth, TX and Carrie (Adam) Lewis of Gambrills, MD and her grandson, Tyler. Jan was also survived by her brother William Atkinson and sisters, Jackie Burkhard, Linda Kelley and Sandy Whaley, all of Pulaski.

Funeral services will be held 2p.m., Friday, March 20th at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with a spring burial in Daysville Cemetery, Pulaski. Calling hours will be held from noon to 2p.m., prior to the service.
