Janette Vanderbeek, 79, of Wahoo, formerly of Curtis, Nebraska, died December 28, 2024 at Havelock Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born June 27, 1945 in Franklin, NE, daughter of John and Rose (Casper) Kruse.

Janette grew up in Hildreth, graduating from Hildreth Public Schools. Following graduation, Janette attended Kearney State College graduating with a degree in Family and Consumer Science. Janette was united in marriage to Steven Vanderbeek on June 30, 1968 at Hildreth, NE; the couple had three children, Stephanie, Kristen and Jeff. Janette was a Home Economics teacher for 30 years at Medicine Valley. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Curtis, PEO Chapter CG in Curtis and the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at Kearney State College. The family made their home in Curtis in 1973 where they lived until moving to Kearney in 2004. They moved to Wahoo in 2015 to be closer to family. Family was very important to Janette, whether it was her summers at Harry Strunk Lake with family and friends, school activities with her students or quality time with her grandchildren. Janette was a great wife, mother, grandma and greatly impacted all of the lives she came in contact with.

She is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie (Shane) Taylor of Wahoo, NE; Kristen Kotschwar of Moorefield, NE, son, Jeffery (Melissa) Vanderbeek of Belgium, WI; grandchildren, Jackson and Noah Taylor, Kahner, Brookelyn, Dylan, and Sydney Kotschwar, Kaydin, Daxton, Kinley, and Deklan Vanderbeek, two brothers, Ron (Sandra) Kruse of Kearney, NE, Tom (Deb) Kruse of Hildreth, NE; sisters-in law, Sheryl Kruse, Ardie Kruse, and Judy Kruse, Carol (Rick) Estudillo, brother-in-law, John (Patti) Vanderbeek.

Janette was preceded in death by husband, Steven, parents, John and Rose Kruse, in-laws, Selvester and Ruth Vanderbeek, brothers, Bruce, Donnie, Gary Kruse, son-in-law Kelly Kotschwar.

Visitation will be held at the Curtis Methodist Church, Curtis, Nebraska; Thursday, January 2, 2025, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Services will be held at the Curtis Methodist Church, 402 Center Ave, Curtis, Nebraska, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2025 with Rev. Donna Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Moorefield Cemetery.
