Janice Bartley

October 19, 1947 – May 25, 2025

Janice Bartley, 77, of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, at UnityPoint Hospital in Des Moines, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Des Moines on October 19, 1947, Janice spent most of her life in Norwalk. She worked for many years as a business manager at Bekins Moving Company and Allied Moving Company, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. After retiring, she embraced life's little joys with warmth and humor.

A proud dog mom, Janice loved spending weekends dining out - especially when chicken fajitas and a cold Diet Pepsi were on the menu. Shopping trips to Walmart were one of her favorite outings, and she often joked it was her second home. Her house and yard were always brightened with beautiful flowers, a reflection of her cheerful spirit.

Janice enjoyed quiet evenings playing solitaire on her phone, reading, doing puzzles, and watching HGTV. But her greatest joy came from spending time with friends and family, who brought light and laughter to her life.

She is survived by her son, Craig Bartley; daughter, Lori (Joe) Sweet; grandsons, Toby Richardson and Dylan (Delanie) Sweet; and two cherished great-granddaughters, Alejlayna and Aubree Richardson. She also leaves behind her sisters Becky and Sue (John), and brothers Larry, Ray and Dave (Dawn).

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Reba Bowden; her sister, Sandy; and her brother, Mike.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Dr., Des Moines, IA 50321. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Norwalk Cemetery on North Ave. in Norwalk.

Janice will be remembered for her kind heart, love of the little things, and the special place she held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
